Whenever the Carrier supplies a Chassis for the intermodal
movement of a loaded container, whether by road or rail,
the following Chassis Usage Charge will apply, SBJ to
the conditions mentioned below (See NOTES):
a. FROM the United States TO the Far East
$ 40.00 per Container
b. FROM the Far East TO the United States
{A} EFFECTIVE 15 June 2002
$ 60.00 per Container
NOTES:
1: Carrier is under no oligation to provide a chassis.
If a Shipper uses its own Chassis or if Carrier
otherwise is unable to provide a Chassis, the Chassis
Usage Charge will NOT apply. In the event Carrier
agrees to provide a Chassis and is unable to do so,
Carrier shall refund to the cargo interest any charge
already paid with respect to that Chassis and the
Carrier shall have no other liability with respect
thereto.
2: The Chassis Usage Charge shall be shown on the bill of
lading or freight invoice. The Shipper and the
Consignee shall be jointly and severally liable for
the payment of all Chassis Usage Charges assessed
pursuant ot the Rule. This liability shall be
imposed notwithstanding whether these parties have
executed any Equipment Interchange Agreement with the
Carrier and notwithstanding whether any Equipment
Interchange Agreement relating to such equipment
provides for such liability.
